2009 resolutions
Run. I have finally admitted to myself that I will never learn portion control. So the second best thing to do is to be more diligent about exercise. In Mongolia, I’m not sure what I’ll have access to, but running only requires some shoes. I’m not much of a runner, so the next two months will be focused on building that up.
Dance. I have some classes on an old class pass that need to be used, so I’m going to take the next two months to do that. Come March, I hope I can find something in Mongolia, but even if I’m just moving around to music in my own apartment, that is ok.
Practice yoga. I am finally at a point where I can develop a home practice, so while I’m still in DC, I will continue to take classes at the studio. I am also going to try to find a few days a week to practice some yoga at work (perhaps after running?). In Mongolia, there will be a greater emphasis on the home practice, though I did manage to locate a studio.
Meditate. A few minutes a day of just easing the mind and body into silence does wonders for my mental and emotional disposition. And a formal practice with a teacher an hour or so week does even more. I won’t have a problem finding a meditation center in Mongolia.
Get published. I finished my masters thesis some time ago, but have not spent the time to clean it up and ready it for publication. I need to do that. I also would like to publish some of my initial efforts in Mongolia.
De-clutter. I need to get rid of a lot of stuff, both mentally and physically. The mental part takes some time. The physical part is much easier to track.
Develop equanimity. Change and endings bring stress. I would like to learn to more on more of an even keel with life.
